Launch of the Prototype Demo!
Hey everyone!
I'm thrilled to share some exciting news about my latest project! I've just released the demo build for my upcoming game, currently unnamed, and I couldn't be more excited to get your feedback!
Quick overview of what you can expect:
- Explore a diverse range of abilities and discover the fastest ways to complete levels (you can equip up to 4 abilities at a time).
- Strategically customize your gameplay by selecting which abilities reset on specific actions, such as defeating certain enemies or interacting with certain objects.
- Master advanced movement techniques including wallrunning, utilizing jump pads, and sliding on angled surfaces.
- Compete against the clock to reach the finish line and claim the top spot on the leaderboards.
- Get involved and be a part of shaping the game's future! Share your feedback, suggestions, and ideas to help make the game the best it can be.
- And there's much more to come!
In this demo build, you'll have the opportunity to dive in and experience firsthand the fast-paced action, strategic gameplay mechanics, and fun movement options. I've poured my heart and soul into crafting an engaging experience, and I can't wait to hear what you think!
Here's a more detailed overview of what you can expect from the game:
- Gameplay mechanics
- Select 4 abilities from a list to use for the level
- At the start of a level choose what abilities certain actions, such as defeating certain enemies or interacting with certain objects reset, enabling you to instantly use it again. This adds depth to the game as there are so many different configurations you can have.
- Movement Mechanics
- Angled surface
- On certain angled surfaces you start sliding automatically when stepped on. This starts building speed, you can then “launch” yourself forward by jumping out of the slide, keeping your momentum.
- Jump Pad
- When walked on, launches you up, has a timer to reset it
- Wall running
- On certain walls (currently not indicated in anyway) you can start wall running by moving towards that kind of wall while being parallel to it
- Wall running up
- Works the same way as normal wall running, but you have to be looking towards the wall
- Standard WASD movement
- Angled surface
- Current selection of abilities
- Dash
- Gain a lot of speed (gravity is not ignored)
- Jetpack
- Gain upward speed
- Throwable pad
- Throw a jump pad that launches you upward, similar to the one in the level
- Glider
- Start gliding (“reduced gravity”), you can turn the glider with A and D keys, you are still free to aim however you please
- Grappling hook
- On certain points, you can attach yourself to a fixed point where you start hanging from. You can use WASD movement
- Note that some selectable options might not work
- Dash
- Compete against the clock to reach the #1 spot, given the options you have at your disposal. In the feature I want to integrate online leaderboards.
Your feedback is incredibly valuable to me as I continue to refine and improve the game. Whether you have suggestions for gameplay tweaks, ideas for new features, or just want to share your thoughts on your experience, I'd love to hear from you! You can leave your feedback directly on the Itch.io page or reach out to me through the devlog comments.
Additionally, if you're interested in participating in a playtest session to provide more detailed feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out. Your input will play a vital role in shaping the future of the game, and I'd be honored to have you on board!
Thank you for your support and enthusiasm for my game. I hope you enjoy playing the demo as much as I enjoyed creating it!
So, what's next?
I'm eager to refine the gameplay mechanics based on your valuable input! While I'm waiting your feedback, I'll be focusing on polish across the board!
And integrating level switching and creating more beginner-friendly levels. These new levels will help players understand the full potential of different abilities and movements and build up the complexity of levels gradually. Additionally, I'll be addressing the tutorial to ensure it provides a smoother learning experience for players.
In the next build, I plan to implement tweaks based on your feedback to improve the ability, gameplay, and movement mechanics. While I don't anticipate creating numerous levels, I expect some changes in mechanics that may affect existing levels.
Regarding timelines, as I want to do a huge polishing "round" I aim to launch the next build by the end of this April, there might not be much tweaks to mechanics for this build however. Your feedback and support are invaluable to me, and I can't wait to share the updated version of the game with you all!
